Collection: Whole and Always Moving

This collection started during a residency at the beginning of 2026. After a few difficult years - culminating in a decision which literally changed my life - a new story started emerging; one of dismantling which generates the discovery of a greater wholeness.

The sea is always present in my work, although perhaps less obviously in this collection, because water is fundamental to who I am and how I experience life. It is, in many ways, everything. In these pieces, water is the force that breaks, that soothes, that holds, and that moves though and around, breaking down and making new.

Alongside the ever present water, an unexpected new motif emerged as the means of expressing the idea of brokenness becoming wholeness - the teacup. Teacups have a long history and many connotations, making them an excellent 'vessel' - if you'll excuse the pun - for exploring ideas of containment, dismantling, growth, change, the feminine, and what it means to be whole. While this work is not about teacups, nor is it of teacups, you may see suggestions of them in the paintings, reminding us that what breaks can be made whole, and that while it can look very different from how it was before, it can be a richer, more nuanced feeling of completeness.
