Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out when new work is available?

The best way is to follow me on Instagram, and sign up for Studio Notes, which go out 2-4 times a month, depending on what’s going on. Subscribers always have first access to new work unless it’s going straight to a gallery, in which case there will be a link to purchase the work via the gallery.

How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?

That depends on whether you’re purchasing a print or an original painting, and where you are in the world.

ORIGINALS

Shipping costs are a complex and ever changing thing. I do my best to keep them as low as possible for you. Shipping is free within the UK for most original paintings, and for works on wood panel and canvas it’s £100 for the rest of the world - please be sure to choose the correct shipping option at checkout. Any extra is covered by me as a thank you gift to you!

Your painting will be packaged up and shipped within a week of your purchase. Shipping times will vary according to location. Within the UK, allow 3-7 days; rest of the world 7-14. Tracking is provided.

PRINTS

Prints are made to order, and shipping is free worldwide. Allow 7-15 days for delivery. You will receive an email notification when your print ships. Changes to EU policies may mean VAT is added to your order.

CARDS

Cards ship free within the UK, with a flat rate of £6 everywhere else. They are shipped within 1-3 days and you will receive notification when they’re on their way.

WORKS ON PAPER

Shipping is free in the UK, and a flat rate of £10 everywhere else. Typically I can ship these out faster, so they’ll be sent within 2-3 working days of purchase. Delivery times vary. Within the UK it’s less than a week; outside the UK it’s usually 1-2 weeks.

PLEASE NOTE: Buyers are responsible for customs or import taxes. For customs information including any fees that may be incurred on your end before purchasing please check with your local post office or on the web. Every country varies. I am not responsible for any delays that may happen at customs.

Can I get my chosen painting framed?

Some paintings are already framed.

For unframed works, framing of original paintings on canvas and wood panel typically takes 2-3 weeks. If you’d like your painting sooner, or prefer to choose a frame yourself, I suggest getting the framing done at your end. This will also allow you to choose a frame that works with your space.

Feel free to contact me here if you’d like an up to date estimate for framing times before purchasing.

Works on paper are shipped unframed.

Can you advise on frames for prints?

It really depends on the type of frame you want and the space in which you'll be hanging it. I would recommend using a frame with a mount {a matt in the US} - it's not essential but elevates the look, and gives more framing options because you can vary the size of the mount.

In the UK, a friend of mine has used Eframe and found it good, and this site allows you to switch between cm and inches and choose frames accordingly. I’ve also purchased frames I like from Desenio. Or you could try a local framer, who can help you create something bespoke for your taste and interior.

How do I pay for a painting?

If you’re purchasing via the shop, simply click ‘add to cart’ or 'buy with shop pay' and you will be taken through the secure check out. Payment can be made via Paypal or credit card.

This store uses Shopify payments via Stripe and PayPal for payments. Your confidential information is encrypted in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).

If you’ve seen a painting you love that’s not in the shop, contact me letting me know the painting title and your location. If it’s still available, I will send you a quote that includes shipping, and if you’d like to go ahead, I will send you an invoice.

Once payment has been completed, I carefully package up your painting and get it sent out to you. It’s important to me that you’re kept up to date with the process so I will keep you informed via email, including {where possible} details of tracking your parcel once it’s on its way.

I use recycled and recyclable packaging as much as possible.

My art arrived damaged. What should I do?

All paintings are carefully packed to withstand transit, however mishaps can occur. Please notify me at tara@taraleaver.com within 3 days with photographs if art was damaged in transit.

What are your return and refund policies?

I do my best to offer exceptional customer service, and want you to be very happy with your purchase of my work.

If you aren't completely delighted with your art, please contact me at tara@taraleaver.com within 3 days of its arrival to request a refund.

Once a return has been agreed, you are responsible for suitable and secure packing {ideally the packaging it arrived in}, and arranging return delivery using a signed for courier or tracked service.

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and for any loss or damage in transit.

Once the piece has been safely returned in its original condition and not damaged, I will refund your payment within 14 days. Original Shipping fees are not refundable.

I package orders very carefully, however if your purchase has been damaged in transit, contact me and we’ll work out a solution.

Do you take commissions?

Not at the moment. You'll find all currently available original paintings here. You can also find the galleries I work with here, with direct links to my pages on their websites.

About the artwork

Original paintings are unframed unless otherwise stated in the product description, or requested by you. This makes them easier to ship, less costly for you, and enables you to choose your own frame to work with your interior. It isn’t necessary to use glass for paintings on canvas or wood panel, however it’s best to keep any painting out of too much direct sunlight.

While I do my best to ensure colours are true to life, please allow for slight, inevitable variation between browsers, devices and screen settings.

All artwork, reproductions and photos are ©Tara Leaver. Sale of original art or print does not transfer copyright and you may not reproduce my work for personal or commercial use for any reason.
