Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out when new work is available?

The best way is to follow me on Instagram, and sign up for Studio Notes, which go out 2-4 times a month, depending on what’s going on. Subscribers always have first access to new work unless it’s going straight to a gallery, in which case there will be a link to purchase the work via the gallery.

Do you take commissions?

Not at the moment. But there’s a selection of work available for sale here. You can also find the galleries I work with here, with direct links to my pages on their websites.

How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?

That depends on whether you’re purchasing a print or an original painting, and where you are in the world.

ORIGINALS: Shipping costs are a complex and ever changing thing. I do my best to keep them as low as possible for you. Shipping is free within the UK for most original paintings, and for works on wood panel and canvas it’s £100 for the rest of the world - please be sure to choose the correct shipping option at checkout. Any extra is covered by me as a thank you gift to you!

Your painting will be packaged up and shipped within a week of your purchase. Shipping times will vary according to location. Within the UK, allow 3-7 days; rest of the world 7-14. Tracking is provided.

PRINTS: Prints are made to order, and shipping is free worldwide. Allow 7-15 days for delivery. You will receive an email notification when your print ships. Changes to EU policies may mean VAT is added to your order.

CARDS: Cards ship free within the UK, with a flat rate of £6 everywhere else. They are shipped within 1-3 days and you will receive notification when they’re on their way.

WORKS ON PAPER: Shipping is free in the UK, and a flat rate of £10 everywhere else. Typically I can ship these out faster, so they’ll be sent within 2-3 working days of purchase. Delivery times vary. Within the UK it’s less than a week; outside the UK it’s usually 1-2 weeks.

Please note buyers are responsible for customs or import taxes.

Framing of original paintings on canvas and wood panel typically takes 2-3 weeks. If you’d like your painting sooner, I suggest getting the framing done at your end {unless of course it’s already framed}. This will also allow you to choose a frame that works with your space.

Frames start at £50, and the appropriate size is recommended in the description of each painting. Feel free to contact me here if you’d like an up to date estimate for framing times before purchasing.

Works on paper are shipped unframed.

Framing

Can you advise on frames for prints?

There aren't any particular frames I recommend as it really depends on the type of frame you want and the space you'll be hanging it. I would recommend using a frame with a mount {a matt in the US} - it's not essential but elevates the look, and gives more framing options because you can vary the size of the mount.

A friend of mine has used Eframe and found it good, and this site allows you to switch between cm and inches and choose frames accordingly. I’ve also purchased frames I like from Desenio. Or you could try a local framer, who can help you create something bespoke for your taste and interior.

How do I pay for a painting?

If you’re purchasing via the shop, simply click ‘add to cart’ and you will be taken through the secure check out. Payment can be made securely via Paypal or credit card.

If you’ve seen a painting you love that’s not in the shop, contact me letting me know the painting title and your location. If it’s still available, I will send you a quote that includes shipping, and if you’d like to go ahead, I will send you an invoice.

Once payment has been completed, I will then carefully package up your painting and get it sent out to you. It’s important to me that you’re kept up to date with the process so I will keep you informed via email, including {where possible} details of tracking your parcel once it’s on its way.

I use recycled and recyclable packaging as much as possible.

What are your return and refund policies?

I do my best to offer exceptional customer service and want you to be very happy with your purchase of my work.

In the event that you are not happy with your purchase, I offer refunds providing that:

  • You notify me within 3 days of its arrival, at tara@taraleaver.com

  • The art work is returned in suitable and secure packaging {ideally the packaging it arrived in}

  • The art work is returned through a signed for courier, or tracking service

  • The art work is in its original condition and not damaged

  • The art work is returned within 14 days.

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and for any loss or damage in transit.

Once the painting has been returned in the condition in which it was received, the sale will be refunded.

I package orders very carefully, however if your purchase has been damaged in transit, contact me and we’ll resolve the issue.

Original paintings are unframed unless otherwise stated in the product description, or requested by you. This makes them easier to ship, less costly for you, and enables you to choose your own frame to work with your interior. It isn’t necessary to use glass for paintings on canvas or wood panel, however it’s best to keep any painting out of too much direct sunlight.

While I do my best to ensure colours are true to life, some screens may show the colours slightly differently.
