Thoughts on owning art

The Way of Things | Tara Leaver

To me, one of the best things about having art in your home is that it elevates the frequency of the space - especially original art, because of how it carries the pure energy of creation direct from the artist's hand.

If that sounds weird to you, bear with me!

We connect with certain paintings over others because they resonate, literally.

Something in the energy of a painting you fall in love with is singing to a part of you that matches that energy.

It almost has a sound, and often comes with a physical feeling - butterflies or a little heart jump for me.

Having that painting in your home then reminds you of that feeling, and generates it afresh every time you look at it.

In that sense, a piece of art you love is an open doorway to a lighter, more connected, or simply happier part of yourself.

And maybe it sounds lofty, but I like to think that when we have more of that kind of energy in our daily lives, we carry that elevated frequency out into the world and pass it on to others, in ways both tangible and invisible, creating a web of connection.

Which is one of many reasons why buying original art is an excellent idea, not just for beautifying our living and working spaces, but for the energy we take out into the wider world too.
